Purchasing from the following companies can be very important if the supplies will be used:
- For a federally funded project exceeding $750,000 with small business subcontracting goals or
- For an EPA collective agreement with fair share goals
Federal agencies require that purchases be made from businesses which are self-certified with the federal government to fulfill the goals set for such agreements. The following companies are federally self-certified as small businesses in the classifications described below.
- Small Business Enterprise (SBE)
- Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)
New England BioLabs - Small Business Enterprise (SBE).
Spectrum Chemical - Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB).
To shop from one of the above suppliers
Open their BearBUY catalog, shop for supplies and enter them into a Shopping Cart. Assign or submit the Cart according to your department’s selected workflow.
In those limited situations, where the item from a catalog supplier is not in the catalog, the Shopper should use a Non-Catalog form for the item to be purchased.
To shop for laboratory supplies from a non-catalog supplier
Complete a Non-Catalog Form with all of the pertinent information for the company from which you want to order supplies, including the company name, address, the item part numbers and descriptions.
Note: If the company is not currently in the campus vendor database, you as the Shopper or the Requisition Creator, will need to have the supplier complete and send a Vendor Request Form to the Vendoring unit to add the supplier to the campus Vendor database, before the order can be processed and a purchase order issued.
